Changes in legislation governing personal injury compensation mean that the amount victims of accidents can expect from their settlements will go up by 10% from next year onwards, as part of a move to reform the sector. It should mean that the public are better off thanks to the changes, and people will still be able to pursue their claims just as easily.
There are some other forms of compensation that will have the same 10% increase, including those for nuisance and defamation, so it’s clear that this is a wide ranging bill. This all comes from the most senior judges in the UK, and the changes have been in the pipeline for a while.
