Woman awarded £750k after car accident

A woman who sustained brain damage in a road traffic accident has been awarded £750,000 in a personal injury compensation case.

60 year old Devbai Patel was hit by a lorry during a multiple vehicle accident in 2008 when out walking on theNorth Circular RoadinLondon. The resulting accident left Mrs Patel a serious head injury and fractured bones that meant she was left in intensive care for two weeks.

The accident started with a Vauxhall crashing into a Peugeot, which then veered into a truck which struck Mrs Patel. The lorry driver was killed in the accident and the driver of the Vauxhall was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mrs Patel’s family pursued legal action from the insurers of car that caused the accident, which has been settled with a compensation payment of £750,000 plus yearly payments of £25,000 to help with her care.
