Whilst we spend a lot of time reading in the papers and hearing on the news about terrible road traffic accidents that result in injuries and deaths, it is refreshing to hear about a 91 year old women who has had no accidents in her 60 years of driving.
Great Grandmother, Irene Montgomery drives most days and puts her lack of accidents down to careful driving, not speeding and being taught by her husband.
Irene learnt to drive on the family farm back when you didn’t need to take part in a driving test.
She still regularly drives to see her sister every week and to go shopping in the nearby town. She used to do regular long journeys to see her daughter, but now lets her come to see her.
Irene’s advice for the younger generation would be to slow down a bit and find a happy medium.
