A student from Sheffield who was left paralysed after a car accident was won a legal battle and is expected to be awarded a seven figure personal injury compensation settlement.

Accident at Yorkshire factory claims life

An East Yorkshire factory has been fined £100,000 after an accident that occurred in 2009 took the life of 59 year old Ronald Wood.

The company, Montracon Limited builds refrigerated trailers for supermarkets and other businesses.

Reportedly in weeks before the accident, a vacuum lifter had been hit multiple times and knocked off its storage bracket. It was this device known as a spider that fell on Mr Wood knocking him unconscious. He was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead late that day. Read More »

Food company fined after accident at work

Food company Vion Foods have reportedly been fined £16,000 after a worker was injured at work.

Barry Walton, 64 was working at the company’s processing plant in Wiveliscombe in February 2010 on top of a shipping container, lifting metal sheeting. When a gust of wind blew him off and he fell 2.5 metres to the ground. He sustained broken ribs and damaged he shoulder and leg.

The Taunton man was unable to work for seven weeks due to his injuries and the required recovery time. Read More »

Great Grandmother, Irene Montgomery drives most days and puts her lack of accidents down to careful driving, not speeding and being taught by her husband.

Dancing on Ice star suffers accident at work

Reality TV fans will already have seen this story unfold on their screens on Sunday night, but Dancing on Ice professional skater Matt Evers suffered a minor accident at work over the weekend.

Skating can be a dangerous sport at the best of times without dancers flinging their blades around their partner’s faces, and in practice for Sunday’s live show and incident occurred.

Hollyoak’s Star Jorgie Porter was practicing a move with her partner Matt where she lifted her leg up for a neck spin move and the blade of her boot connected with his face. Matt had to be rushed to hospital for stitches and was soon back at the studio to perform live with Jorgie. Read More »

£5m awarded to girl injured in car accident

A girl who suffered a serious injury as a result of road traffic accident has been awarded compensation of £5 million.

The accident occurred back in 2006 when Cerys Edwards was only 11 months old, when a speeding Range Rover was said to be travelling around 70mph in a 30mph zone and hit the Edwards car head on.

The driver, 19 year old Antonio Singh Boparen given a sentence of 21 months in prison for his conviction of dangerous driving. Read More »
