  1. Worker has arm crushed while working with farm machinery

    Farm Worker Accident CompensationA farm worker has been severely injured after his arm was pulled into a machine designed to separate slurry.

    Andrew James Ray suffered the ordeal back in January 2009 when he was asked to clean the slurry separator while working for M Hooper and Sons Ltd. to clean the device, Mr Ray was using a hose and a brush to wipe away dirt that had accumulated between the two rollers. Unknown to Mr Ray, the machine had still been on while he was carrying out his task, resulting in his arm being dragged between the two rollers. The victim suffered severely, being left with a crushed arm up to his elbow. (Read more…)

  2. Compensation paid to cameraman on film set

    Cameraman Personal Injury CompensationA new film starring Keanu Reeves has been making the headlines recently, this time because of a personal injury suffered by one of the cameraman on the set.

    The unnamed 62 year old was working at the Shepperton Studios in Middlesex, filming a section of 47 Ronin, where Reeves stars as a Kai, who joins a group of Samurai seeking vengeance against the man who killed their master.

    While on the set back in May 2010, he fell through an unguarded opening in the floor, falling more than3 metresto the ground. Despite the fall, he managed to escape with just cuts and bruises and a suspected broken rib. (Read more…)

  3. Company fined after mans arm was crushed

    safety helmetsA machinery manufacturing company has found themselves under fire following an incident where one of its employees had his arm crushed in a hydraulic press.

    The horrific injury occurred at a plant that produces safety helmets, with the emergency services among those who benefit from their product. The employee had been using a machine to build fire helmets, which uses a hydraulic press to forge together integral parts of the head wear.

    Whilst on his duties, the employee noticed a section of the helmet had slipped out of position, which would cause the helmet to be incorrectly aligned. He set out to solve the problem, opening the safety gates believing this would automatically cut the power to the machine. However the top half of the press came crashing down on his arm, severely crushing and burning it. (Read more…)

    A school pupil had a nasty experience with a car last week, when a car mounted a kerb and pinned the helpless child up against a wall.

    The 14 year old involved, who chose not to be named, was walking home from school on Pinner Road, West Harrow on Friday when the incident took place. Fellow pupils looked on in horror as the incident unfolded. (Read more…)

    The accident happened back in May 2010 when a 44 year old employee from Hutchinson Technical services was instructed to carry out maintenance work on a storage tank.     People working in the vegetable packing area at Riviera Produce at Connor Downs began to complain of dizziness and nausea, which lead to two ambulances being called to the site.
